For 40 years Lon Rogers drank the same boring cup of coffee. He never truly "enjoyed" the coffee itself, but brewing it and drinking it was just something he did without thinking much about it. Like his father and generations before him coffee wasn t for pleasure, it was for function.

One evening, as he and his family sat in their kitchen while he drank his post-meal cup of coffee he was overtaken by the aroma of the popcorn his daughter was popping. Inspiration struck! Why couldn t he roast his own beans? His mind flooded with possibilities. Light roasts, dark roasts. Each day would begin and end with the most fresh-ground coffee imaginable. Never again would he have to power through that stale coffee at the bottom of the bag. The way he viewed coffee had changed forever.

Using the simple and inexpensive popcorn popper that was already in the kitchen he began roasting his own beans and continues this ritual to this day. However, he did have one obstacle that was a challenge to his passion. Finding un-roasted beans.
