2 decimal places is to help identify the time of ovulation more easily. Most thermometers measure one decimal place, however, our thermometer will read 2 decimals to spot the time of ovulation easier, especially if you also use ovulation tests.

Measuring Basal Body Temperature (BBT)
BBT must be measured directly after you wake up.
To get precise readings, you need to measure basal body temperature at the same hour each day.
Get started during the first day of your cycle, that is the first day during which you get a menstrual bleeding.
Measure your temperature in the morning and record the number in your BBT chart.
Temperatures typically rise (about 1.0ºF or 0.6ºC) within a day or so after ovulation, and are the result of heat-inducing hormone, progesterone.
Recording and interpreting basal temperature changes is called the "Basal Temperature Method"(BTM).
The Basal Temperature Method can be used to help in family planning.
Charting of temperature and prediction of ovulation can be used to time sexual intercourse during fertile days to aid in increasing the likelihood of pregnancy.
For replacing the battery, pull the battery cover away from the unit, pull up the battery set and replace the battery with a 3V, CR1130 button cell or equivalent.
