Arthur Loesser (1894-1969) was a fine pianist, teacher, and music critic for many years in Cleveland, as well as the author of the classic book, Men, Women, and Pianos. Arthur Loesser s half-brother Frank was the famous Broadway composer of Guys & Dolls and How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Loesser made his professional debut in 1913 and toured the Far East with violinist Mischa Elman. He was more active as an accompanist and teacher than as a recitalist, but his few recordings (this 3 CD set was recorded in 1961) are all the more treasured for that.
