Du Bincheng was born in Mizhi, Shaanxi, he was occupied in educational work in his early years, supported the students patriotic movement, cultivated a batch of outstanding talents such as Liu Zhidan and Xie Zichang, and advocated and supported the establishment of Mizhi Sanmin Middle School, Yulin Womens Normal School, Suide Normal School and Yanan Middle School, making outstanding contributions to the development of education in northern Shaanxi. Later, he became one of the leaders of democratic movement in the northwest region, managed to rescue a number of communists arrested by KMT, such as Liu Zhidan, Liu Lantao, and Zhang Desheng, and supplied bullets, military uniforms, etc. to Shaanxi-Gansu guerrillas, supporting the communists revolutionary activities in every way. After the Xian Incident, he succeeded to the Secretary-General of the reorganized Shaanxi Provincial Government, and participated in drafting Zhang Xueliang and Yang Huchengs ""Eight-Point Proposal"". On March 20, 1947, he was arrested by KMT agents in Xian, and died a martyrs death in October the same year.
