Merkur s Futur is a low-maintenance adjustable razor which can perform as mildly or as aggressively as you wish by adjusting the blade exposure dial. This model (Merkur part number 90700002, commonly referenced as "70" or "700") is the satin version, and there s also the 90701001 (commonly referred to as "701") brightly-polished version - each uses the same basic chrome plating, it is only the finish that changes, but if you live in a hard-water environment it would be more difficult to keep the appearance of the brightly-polished chrome model and better to select this matte-finished model instead. The Futur is 4.3" (109mm) tall and weighs 4.3 ounces (122 grams), rather hefty-for-the-safety-razor-world numbers that contribute to its solid feel in the hand. Produced entirely in Solingen, Germany, at its maximum blade setting the Futur is among the most aggressive double-edge safety razors ever created.
