It generates electricity with the built-in dynamo (hand crank to wind up internal alternator), with small integrated solar panel or simply by connecting it through USB. This is a self-power emergency radio that you and your family can depend on, anytime anywhere, any weather. This high quality and rubberized housing radio is rainproof but do not total immerse it into water. It is ideal for hiking, camping, stored in a car trunk, or any emergency kit.
It has built-in charging and discharging protection, so when the radio battery is in lower power, it will stop electrical output therefore not support cell phone charging. You have to recharge the radio unit first, then it can charge cell phone.
1 minute cranking gives 5 minutes phone talking time or 15 minutes radio time.
The built-in battery is 300 mAh and therefore the charging function for smartphones is mostly for emergency purposes. Today s smartphones use a lot of power and therefore it doesn t power smartphones for too long unless the radio is also connected by USB or while turning the dynamo.
