Used in conjunction with templates or shop-built jigs, this top bearing hinge mortising bit (model 16-560) is ideal for mortising in solid wood, plywood, or composites. The solid carbide construction and downshear cutting action ensures clean, crisp hinge and hardware mortises.
It features Freud s specially formulated Titanium Cobalt (TiCo) carbide, which is smaller and more densely packed than other carbides on the market today, enabling the carbide teeth on Freud s blades, bits and cutters to last up to four times longer than standard products. Compared with standard carbide, measuring at around 4 to 5 microns, Freud s TiCo Hi-Density Carbide is just 0.6 to 0.8 microns and size, helping to maximize performance as well as longevity.
