Brome 1016 Squirrel Buster Finch

Equipped with patented Squirrel Buster technology, this Brome 1016 Squirrel Buster Finch feeder offers an innovative design that attracts birds while keeping squirrels at bay. The bird feeder holds 1.4 quarts of bird seed, whether it s Black Oil sunflower seed (a good all-round birdseed) or other seed blends specific to your area.

The squirrel-proof bird feeder attracts a wide variety of clinging and perching birds including the American Gold Finch, the Chickadee, the Indigo Bunting, and the Purple Finch. The unit features a specialized nyjer/mix feeder for high-quality performance, and its innovative design means that eight birds can feed at the same time.

Squirrel-Proof / Chew-Proof

Openings in the wire shroud align with seed ports and provide birds access to the seed. When a squirrel climbs onto the feeder, its weight automatically forces the shroud down, closing access to the seed ports. All squirrels and many large birds are blocked from accessing the food, but are not harmed in any way.

The Closing Mechanism

The spring mechanism is calibrated at the factory to close at 4 ounces (115 g). The smaller red squirrels, as well as the larger gray squirrels, are shut out at this setting.

Negative Grip Tube

The bird feeder features a negative grip tube that prevents squirrels from grabbing the wire hanger with their hind legs and hanging alongside the feeder, defeating the closing mechanism.

Seed-Level Indicator

The bottom of the yellow center post cap marks the maximum seed level. Filling past this mark will impede the shroud from closing. Do not fill past this mark.

Patented Seed Tube Ventilation System

Transparent seed tubes are like greenhouses; they trap solar energy. Traditional seed tube cover designs block the escape of heated air. The patented Seed Tube Ventilation System in the Squirrel Buster Finch permits humidity and warm air to escape through vents at the top of the feeder. The escaping air is replaced by fresh air entering through the seed ports. The result: seed remains fresher and attracts more birds.

Hang the Squirrel Buster Finch over a window, in a tree, on a deck or fence, in your garden, on the side of your house, from a rain gutter, or over sliding doors to get great close-up views of your favorite birds. The bird feeder hangs easily with the use of a wall bracket, extension hook, or branch hook (sold separately).

Easy to Fill and Clean

The Squirrel Buster Finch dismantles for convenient filling, and cleans up easily by hand. Do not put it in the dishwasher; it is not dishwasher-safe.
