3M Paint Defender Application Kit makes protecting your car’s painted surfaces even easier. Designed to work with 3M Paint Defender Spray Film, this kit allows you to choose precisely the surface you want to protect. The plastic sheeting tears by hand and clings to the car’s surface, while the masking tape creates a sharp paint line and removes easily. By using the 3M Paint Defender Application Kit, you let the do-it-yourself 3M Paint Defender Spray Film (sold separately) do what it does best: protect your vehicle from rocks, insects, gravel, sand and other paint chip causing road debris.

Easy to Use

The 3M Paint Defender Application Kit gives you the flexibility to select the surfaces you want to protect. Follow these simple instructions to prepare your vehicle for application of the 3M Paint Defender Spray Film (sold separately).

1. Pop your hood and unfold the plastic sheet to cover entire vehicle with the printed side facing up.
2. Cut/Tear a T-shaped slit in the plastic sheeting about 18 inches from the front of the hood.
3. Tape masking film down to hood with a straight line.
4. Lift hood and pull the plastic sheeting under the hood and into the engine compartment. Place an object about 3”- 4” thick (i.e. roll of paper towels, roll of tape, wood block) under the hood to prop it open to create a larger gap between hood and vehicle.
5. Next, place a second line of tape overlapping the first line of tape. The piece of tape will be removed later on while the coating is still wet. Create a “tab” at the end of the tape for easy removal. When you remove this second line of tape, it creates an invisible edge between your paint and the spray film.

1. Mask and Tape: Mask and tape the car with 3M Paint Defender Application Kit, PN 90200 (sold separately) to frame the surface you want to spray.	2. Wax: Using the 1oz packet of 3M Synthetic Wax Protectant (sold separately as part of 3M Paint Defender Spray Film), prepare the surface to be sprayed by waxing, which ensures easy removal later.	3. Spray: Apply the 3M Paint Defender Spray Film (sold separately), paying attention to distance, speed and pattern. To make application even easier, use the 3M Paint Defender Spray Trigger.
