This incredible, authentic Chinese calligraphy set is decorative and functional and comes packaged in a deluxe fan shaped storage case. An ancient art form, known as Traditional Sumi-e, the set contains four sumi brushes (approx. 5" long overall) with bamboo handles, fine bristles, and a red cord loop at the end of each brush. Also included is a Chinese porcelain brush stand which holds two brushes, a porcelain bowl containing red ink (for use with the seal stone) and a lid with a dragon design on it. The Chinese porcelain water bowl comes with a miniature brass dipper. Implements for painting include a Sazuri ink stick and a black soapstone well. The box, which has a padded lid, is covered with a silk brocade fabric in a geometric design and closes with two faux bone pegs.
